Jewel Domingue has been a student at University Preparatory Academy since kindergarten. Now in 4th grade, she has established herself as an up and coming scholar as well as a fast developing track and field athlete.
Jewel's mother recounted that since she was in preschool, it was obvious Jewel had a gift for speed. After hearing feedback from several others regarding Jewel's talent, her mother began looking for opportunities for developing her abilities. After joining a track and field club, it became evident that Jewel would quickly rise to the top. In May of 2019, she tried out and qualified for the Junior Olympics, the largest multi-sport event for youth in the United States.
Jewel currently competes in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and long jump events during the outdoor track season. She also competes in the 60 meter, 200 meter and long jump during indoor season. In Summer 2020, Jewel recieved medals in each of her events. She is also an All American Track & Field athlete, making her one of the top all-around competitors and is currently number one in the nation for the 60 meter.
Jewel most recently competed at the Junior Nationals in Virgina Beach, VA. where she recevied a medal in the long jump, 200 meter, and even won a gold medal in the 60 meter run. Her coach, Mr. Walker, has foretold she is headed for Olympic level competition. Jewel, you are a UPA "point of pride". We are so proud of you, keep it up!
